We didn't really get stuck in much traffic on Oahu. Megan duBoisBefore leaving for Oahu, I'd heard from friends and read on social-media groups that getting around can be difficult. My fears of sitting in traffic for the whole week set in before I even stepped foot off the plane. In reality, my family and I never got stuck in gridlocked traffic over our six days on the island. We also found the drivers to be much more courteous than we're used to back in Florida.

I've stayed at every hotel at Disney World, and some are worth the extra cost on vacation. I love Pop Century Resort for its cheaper rooms, and it's easy to get to two of the four parks. download the app Email address Sign up By clicking “Sign Up”, you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy . AdvertisementI've been going to Disney World for almost 30 years, and in that time, I've been lucky enough to stay at every single hotel the company has to offer. A typical trip to Disney World for a family of four can cost nearly $7,000, so it's tempting to cut corners by staying off-property.

I've been on 50 cruises around the world and took my first Mediterranean route last year. Before packing, I always check to see if any of the experiences I've booked have a dress code. download the app Email address Sign up By clicking “Sign Up”, you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy . AdvertisementAs someone who's taken over 50 cruises all over the world, I know firsthand how popular cruising is this year. After taking my first Mediterranean cruise last year, here's what I think everyone should know before booking the route.

Read previewCruise bookings are predicted to reach record highs this year, but not all itineraries are created equally — especially if you're looking to sail with Disney Cruise Line. When I book, I always make sure Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, is on the port of call. AdvertisementCharacters usually meet in the morning from around 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., but exact times can always be found on the Disney Cruise Line app. AdvertisementAnd, before I head back to the ship, I stop at the Castaway Cay post office to send postcards back home. Megan duBoisThe postcards I use can be found in the desk drawer of Disney Cruise Line staterooms, and are free to take.

Genie+ is a paid skip-the-line service at the Disney theme parks that costs about $30 a day. I always think it's worth it to get Genie+ because of how many attractions use the service. Being able to skip multiple long lines every day is a big time saver for my family. For us, that meant splurging on Genie+, a paid skip-the-line service that works at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Two-day admission to the theme parks already costs over $300 a person, and on our two-day vacation, my family spent an extra $180 ($30 a person per day) on Genie+.

The number one upgrade I pay for on any cruise is a balcony cabin. I like being about to hang out on my private balcony when I want some quiet time. Megan duBoisWhether I'm headed to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, or the Bahamas, I always pay extra for a balcony cabin on a cruise. I love that I can walk outside and see the ocean at any time. It's different on every cruise, but balcony cabins typically cost at least $100 to $200 more than interior staterooms.

I never buy drink packages since I don't drink enough to get my money’s worth. I like to have a nice cocktail or two, but I don't drink enough for a whole package. Megan duBoisMost of the major cruise lines, like Carnival and Royal Caribbean, offer drink packages. Plus, the packages really vary across companies — some cruise lines give you 15 drinks a day while others have unlimited options. Unfortunately, on every cruise I've been on, everyone (of legal drinking age) in the same stateroom has to make the same decision on drink packages.

AdvertisementI've taken 50 cruises with family and friends, and I'm always looking to try out new routes with different port stops. Before I ever book a cruise — which I do about six times a year — I try to find either a new-to-me ship or a new-to-me route. If neither of those options works for my budget or timeframe, I opt for a familiar favorite. Here are my favorite cruise routes that I'm always happy to book, and the ones I don't need to sail again.

I rented a cabana for a day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park for $365. AdvertisementI've been going to Disney World for over 25 years, and I've been to its water parks — Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach — a few times. But during my most recent visit to Typhoon Lagoon, my family and I decided to spring for a poolside cabana. When my family and friends arrived at Typhoon Lagoon, check-in for the cabana was easyWe were stationed at Beachcomer Shack 7. I've been on multiple Disney Cruise vacations, including a sail on the Disney Magic. My family and I stayed in a deluxe veranda stateroom, which had great views of the ocean. NEW LOOK Sign up to get the inside scoop on today’s biggest stories in markets, tech, and business — delivered daily. When my parents and I sailed on the Disney Magic for five nights in 2022, the three of us booked a deluxe stateroom with a veranda for about $3,500. But we thought the outdoor space would be worth the higher price tag.
